Where We Work

Jackson Memorial Hospital serves as the primary site for clinical rotations throughout our three-year family medicine residency program. We’re proud to maintain a dedicated family medicine inpatient service at Jackson. Our residents also care for patients at Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center, our family medicine clinic located just five minutes from campus.

PGY-1

Most intern-year rotations take place on the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital medical campus. All inpatient and emergency medicine rotations are within walking distance.

  • Interns have an average of one half-day per week of continuity clinic at Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center.
  • Elective rotations are available on campus.

PGY-2

Second-year residents continue to serve on the family medicine inpatient service and rotate through the medical intensive care unit and emergency department, all based on campus. Additional sites include:

  • UHealth Jackson Urgent Care centers throughout Miami-Dade County
  • A private orthopedic practice in Miami
  • A local high school clinic for community pediatrics

PGY-2 residents average three half-days per week in continuity clinic at Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center and enjoy increased flexibility during elective and research blocks.

PGY-3

In the final year, residents complete remaining weeks on the family medicine inpatient service, typically without additional inpatient or emergency rotations. Notable PGY-3 experiences include:

  • Sports medicine at the University of Miami Lennar Medical Center in Coral Gables
  • Practice management rotations at sites across Miami, including UHealth
  • Expanded procedural experience at Jackson’s urgent care locations
  • Community pediatrics at a Jackson clinic

PGY-3 residents average four half-days per week in continuity clinic at Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center, with added opportunities for electives and research.
