Application Requirements

Thank you for your interest in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Health System Family Medicine Residency Program.

We are the primary teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. All applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®), and we participate in the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®).

Program Preferred Criteria

  • Applicants who submit a program signal and complete their ERAS application by October 1 will receive priority review.
  • Applicants who graduated from medical school more than one year prior to application should demonstrate current clinical employment or ongoing involvement in the U.S. healthcare system.
  • USMLE Step 2 CK score of 230 or higher (or COMLEX Level 2 score of 500 or higher) is preferred by October 1 of the application year.
  • No more than one unsuccessful attempt on any USMLE or COMLEX examination.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without delay or be eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship. Jackson Health System sponsors J-1 visas only.
  • A minimum of three letters of recommendation is required, including at least one letter from a Family Medicine physician.
  • Demonstrated commitment to caring for underserved patients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and enthusiasm for training in a large, tertiary-care safety-net health system.
