Military Applicants

Jackson is proud to announce that as of September 2023, we have one permanent army-funded position available during our recruiting season. If you are currently in the army, interested in Emergency Medicine and looking for a busy, high acuity and challenging residency program, we are what you are looking for.

We customize your training while at Jackson to meet your shared interest in military and emergency medicine. As such, we make sure that you spend time with our army training program at Ryder Trauma Center while ensuring that you graduate with superior medicine knowledge.

Sub-I

If you are interested in rotating with us, you have two options:

  1. Preferably, you would apply through the regular VSLO application process (typically during the month of March) and indicate that you are an army applicant.
  2. Since we understand you may have other obligations, we also offer shorter rotations to those who cannot commit to a full month. If this is your situation, please email our coordinator Isabelle St-Cyr with the details of your availability ([email protected]). Requests should be received by the end of April.

Application

Sub-I rotations are not mandatory to apply to our program. Any Army applicant with an interest in doing their emergency medicine residency at Jackson is welcome to share their interest by emailing our coordinator Isabelle St-Cyr ([email protected]) along with a copy of your CV, your available step score(s), your personal statement and a picture. Our program will conduct interviews with all of whom are interested starting in September until rank is due in mid-October. We then follow the official army selection procedures with match results coming out mid-December.

If you have any specific questions about the process, please email us at [email protected]
