Program Overview

Curriculum

The Pediatric/Adult Allergy and Immunology fellowship at the University of Miami and Jackson Health System is a two-year fellowship with ACGME accreditation, which was given in June 2024. The first fellow will be recruited to start in July 2025.

For the clinical period, fellows will split call time evenly with their co-fellow for inpatient consults at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Miami VA Healthcare System. Fellows will also rotate clinics at Jackson Memorial, UHealth – University of Miami Health System, and the Miami VA. Fellows will see pediatric and adult patients with a range of allergic and immunological diseases under the direction of different faculty members for broad experience in practicing allergy and immunology.

Fellows will have protected time to perform research activities with four dedicated weeks each year and protected half-day clinical sessions throughout other rotations. All fellows are expected to perform at least one quality improvement, chart review, case report, or other investigator-driven research study during their fellowship. Fellows will be encouraged and supported to present their findings at national conferences and publish during the fellowship. If a fellow would like to do a non-ACGME-approved third research year of fellowship or post-doctoral fellowship, faculty will support the fellow in applying for funding to support this, and there are many basic science immunology faculty at the University of Miami with research labs for collaboration. However, this is not required or expected of any fellow.

Fellows will have protected time to dedicate to their educational activities weekly throughout their fellowship. Fellows will participate in division journal clubs and case conferences. A formal board review curriculum and a lectureship series will be led by faculty.
